We all have a list of authors we love. Some of my favorites are pictured below. These authors only need to announce they have a book, and we are ready to purchase it —no synopsis needed. Well, friend, we are going to talk about three ways to support your favorite author beyond buying their next book. Hi, my name is She Nell. I am an author, blogger, independent publisher, and Literacy teacher. Here are three free ways you can support authors.

Support the author by leaving a review
Your words have power. Leaving a review is a great way to support authors. Your thoughts about their book will attract readers and help them choose to support the author. Your review is also helpful to the author, who may read it and consider your insights in their next project. Reviews also help the algorithms show the author’s books to more customers. What was the last book you reviewed? Let us know in the comments.
Support the author by sharing a post on social media
You don’t need to be an official Booktoker or BookstaGrammer to share what you are reading. We love BookTok, but it is one of many ways to let friends know what you are reading. Show your support for the book you are reading by simply posting, “Hey, I picked up (title of the book), and I like it.” You can post a reel or video, but a simple post is just as helpful. Sharing your reading life will help spread the word to your friends. Challenge: After you read this blog post, find the title of the book you are currently reading and tag @authorshenell on Instagram and Author She Nell on Facebook.
Support the author by telling a friend
Don’t let friends miss out on good books. You can support authors by telling your friends what you are reading. If you would like to take it a step further, you can gift your friend a copy of the book. Two of my personal favorite books are Lies Women Believe and The Truth that Sets Them Free, and For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide/ When the Rainbow Was Not Enuf. I have owned and gifted multiple copies of each of these books.
Friend, you can support your favorite author or a new author by sharing their work with others. If you have a favorite or new author, feel free to share their name or book title with us in the comments.

Doing the right thing isn’t easy when wrong feels right.

Jas’Mia has lost everything, and the man she loves is marrying someone else. She is at her breaking point. Jas’Mia gives up on love until she is swept away by a man who must be sent from heaven. When heaven turns to hell, she starts to question her Christian life.
Does she have to be perfect?
What does it mean to give up her life?
Is salvation a list of impossible rules?
Jas’Mia can’t find answers and is desperate to “live right”. The steps of a good woman are ordered by the Lord, but can she walk with Christ if her steps are crooked?
Walking Crooked with Christ is the first book in the Flawed but Faithful series. Each book can stand alone or be enjoyed in order.
Book Order:
1 Walking Crooked with Christ
2 Sitting on the Fence
3 Fighting the Good Fight
4 Resting on the word
5. Carrying the Cross
