Who has time to read?

When I was a child, I spent countless hours in my room reading. As an adult, I found myself spending countless hours wishing I could read. I missed those days when all you had to do was clean your room and read a good book. Desperate to add reading back into my life, I found creative ways to solve this problem.

Read E-books

Okay, I will be honest; I rebelled against digital reading for years. I just wanted to touch and smell the pages of my book. I received a kindle, and it changed my life. I could read books at night, in bed, and without my glasses. I could also read more than one book without toting a mini library in my bag. No, it doesn’t smell as good as a paperback, but I get to read.

Always carry a book in your bag

If you are team paperback or team hardback, always keep a book with you. This is the method my hubby loves. He carries two or three books in his book bag daily. If this is the method for you, invest in magnetic bookmarkers or paperclips to hold your pages.

Read on your phone

“Read on your phone,” a friend said. Reading on my phone sounded weird but I gave it a try. The Kindle App is free on most phones and syncs to your other device. I became hooked to reading on my cell phone. It is easier than reading on the actual tablet. Cell phones are basically pocket computers and if you can tweet you can read.

Audiobooks

Are you still not convinced? Do you still think you do not have time to read? Have you tried audiobooks? Audiobooks allow your brain to read while you are doing your daily task. Part of reading is decoding words and understanding the meaning of words. That is only the beginning of the reading process. Comprehending the story or article is a major component of reading. Audiobooks allow your mind to read while your body is driving, cleaning, or (insert your favorite adulting task here).
