When Truth is CONFESSED! (book review)

“Just, Chapter one: Veronica”, I said to myself one stressful afternoon as I lie in my bed mind swirling from the day’s activities. “Yep, going to read the first chapter, drink this cup of hot chamomile tea, and rest my nerves.” It sounded like a sure way to ease the tension that I faced that day but little did I know what 15 minutes of reading would do to my tried soul.

Confessions of a First Lady 3: The Complete 3 Part Series by [Denora M. Boone]

I started chapter one thinking this would be a great break, a needed 15 minutes of restful reading. I finished not only chapter one but all 19 chapters of the book a couple of hours later bug-eyed and speechless. The fact that I finished the book in a couple of hours is not what had me mesmerized. Denora Boone has been blessed with the ability to tell a jaw-dropping saga that does not compromise one’s spirit.

As the title suggests the saga does involve the first lady of a megachurch, with a compassionate man of God as her head and husband. She has three wonderful children that love and fear the Lord, one handsome son, and twin girls that love and care for their mother.  This first Lady has what seems to be the best of both complicated worlds, a Godly husband that treats her like the queen of her home and the respect from a megachurch congregation in the house of the Lord. However, First Lady also has one jaw-dropping secret about her past life and an event that has both characters and readers questioning the definition of a Godly home. This mixture of Deity and drama kept this reader turning pages.

Several times during this reading experience I had to put the book down. With, my mouth gaping open; my eyes prepared to pop out at any moment; I had to remind myself to breathe. Several parts of this drama cause me to reread pages in disbelief as I tried to come to terms with what was happening in the lives of these characters.  I soon found myself picking up the book to continue the journey praying that somehow things would turn around for the First Lady. Each chapter moved quickly and was compelling as the characters guided me through the saga of the First Lady and the ordeals of her family. Countless feelings of surprise, wonder, hurt, and empathy filled my mind through the pages of this outstanding book.
