Before I became an author, I was a reader. My love of reading started at an early age and continues to this day. The love for great stories often causes readers to become writers. Once the decision is made to become an author it is important to continue to read in and outside the genre of choice. Here are six reasons why authors need to read.
Reading within the genre of choice:
1.allows you to understand reader expectations
2.gives an example of writing craft with the genre
3.reminds you of the joy of reading
Reading outside the genre of choice:
4.grows your understanding of craft
5.teaches needed skills in business
6.provides examples of elements not found in your genre
