I have fallen in love

 

I am a very traditional person. I can adapt to change easily however, if something is working then I am reluctant to change. Writing in Microsoft word works. The program has worked for my writing since middle school.  I was sure that I would never use a program outside of word to draft a story. Recently I was challenged o try Google Docs. I was hesitant but willing to try the program. I have fallen in love with the program and here is why:

Write anywhere

With Goggle Docs you can write anywhere and without your laptop. If you have a smartphone you can log into your Goggle account, pull up your document, and begin writing where you stopped. As a mother of teenagers that do not drive, I believe this feature is from heaven. I have been able to get pages of writing complete while waiting to pick up my children.

Saves within seconds

If you have never lost words because you did not save or turn on your autosave you are lucky. I however have not been lucky and broke into an ugly cry in public. Google Docs saves your work while you are writing.  #winning

Allows sharing

Google documents are sharable. I was able to share my manuscript with my beta (test) readers and see their comments in real-time. I did not need to download several versions of the same text to organize feedback.  95% of my draft is done in Goggle Docs. Afterward, I convert the text to a Word program. I find that both programs are needed for my writing process.
