Wednesday we discussed setting our reading goals. Without three gems in hand, it is time to develop a reading habit so that we can crush our reading goals. Reading is like running, if you are not in shape you can not run a 5k today. However, if you run a little each day soon you will be able to run the 5K. Reading is in many ways the same. If you wanted to read a 100k book but you normally do not read it would be hard. Here are three tips to help you build your reading strength.
Short Goals Build Momentum
Setting a timer for short amounts of time will help increase your reading speed. You can also try to set a mini-goal for example read five pages a night. As you accomplish these smaller goals you will naturally want to pursue other goals.
Reward yourself
When you meet a goal celebrate your success. Your celebration can be as big or as small as you would like. You can celebrate by buying yourself a new book, journal, bookmarked, or coffee. Pick a reward that you want and it will motivate you to accomplish your goals.
Test out Genres
There are books about any topic that you can imagine. If you are in need of an extra boost of inspiration try reading in different genres. Reading across genres will introduce you to new authors and perspectives.
