What do you do during an interview when AWARD-WINNING & NATIONAL BESTSELLING AUTHOR Pat Simmons calls you prolific? You blush, thank God for the opportunity to know such a fantastic person, and post the interview. My fangirling aside, you will want to settle in and read this interview. Friends meet Pat Simmions
Tell me about your latest book.
I have two upcoming fall releases. The first is HOUSE CALLS FOR THE HOLIDAYS, a short story featuring my grand dog. The second is DAY NOT PROMISED, a new Christian fiction series that I’m excited about. Spiritual warfare drives the plot with a dash of romance. The bad guys don’t always win, especially when the Lord fights our battles. Omega Addams thought it was a typical workday until a detour on the way home changes everything. She’s almost killed, but an innocent bystander, Mitchell Franklin, takes a bullet for Omega during a gas station robbery. In the aftermath, Omega has no idea that God expects her to “pray it forward” until a spiritual battle unfolds before her eyes. Another innocent bystander is in trouble; unless Omega gets her prayer life together, others will die without Christ. It’s a chain reaction that highlights the responsibility of a Christian–hot, cold, or lukewarm. It’s time to get our acts together. We are our brother’s keeper. the bad guys don’t always win, especially when the Lord fights our battles.

Why did you choose to become a Christian Fiction Author?
I wanted to give readers not only a sweet, emotional, and passionate love story that showed the power of repentance, redemption, and restoration, instead of sexual gratification.
What inspired you to write it?
I was starting to read too many romance stories that lacked the pure nature of romance but replaced it would vivid imagines of lust. I always say readers can read me on Saturday and go to church on Sunday guilt-free. They won’t have to worry about those images popping up while the preacher is delivering the sermon.
What is your writing process?
Once I come up with an idea, I start to imagine the plot in my head before I begin the outline. The best time to write is in my home office which faces the window and my neighborhood. I’m motivated in the morning and throughout the day. I’m a caregiver, so I do have interruptions that may cause me to write until 2 a.m. I am not a notebook-first kind of girl. I usually can’t read my handwriting as I try to capture all my thoughts. It’s double work.
What is the best part of being an author?
At first, it was to share stories of romance with a faith element. Later, I learned that I write at the pleasure of the Lord who guides me through messages for the reader. I have walked into my ministry—writing.
What book(s) are you most excited to read next?
I have books loaded in my kindle and hard copies on my nightstand. As soon as I can catch up, I hope to enjoy my holiday reading.
Tell me something about you as a person. (Likes, hobbies, family anything you would like readers to know.)
Sewing is my passion. My favorite hot spot is downtown L.A. in the garment district. I usually put a suitcase within my big suitcase to haul my goodies back to St. Louis. I am a genealogy sleuth. I love the hunt for my ancestors and their stories. I have taught beginner classes because it’s so important for people to know their roots. The strengths, weaknesses, and hardships they overcame.
What is next?
I have scheduled book signings at two military bases: Illinois and Texas to promote my new release DAY NOT PROMISED. My agent is shopping for three proposals for me. One is a historical to present-time fiction.
