Have you fallen in love with an author’s work? Are you a follower of an author? Do you want to know ways you can support your favorite author? Do you want to support a friend that finished their 1st book? Here is a list of ways you can support an author.
- Share post on social media
Help your favorite author build their platform by sharing their post. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and all other social media sites limit the number of people that see a post. An author may have a thousand friend but less than 100 may see their posts. When you like and share an author’s post you are helping them reach a greater audience.
- Review a book
Book reviews have power. When you review a book on Amazon, Good Reads, or any platform you are helping readers find the author. Your words encourage the author and inform the reader.
- Tell your friends
Word of mouth is a proven marketing strategy. Telling a friend about the book you read helps your favorite author gain readers.
- Subscribe to their newsletter
Your subscription to an author’s newsletter encourages the author and keeps you informed. Most authors send newsletters once or twice a month.
- Purchase an eBook
eBooks are very inexpensive. The price can range from free to just under 5 bucks. You can support your favorite author by purchasing an electronic copy of their book. The Kindle app can be download that can be added to your computer, phone, or tablet.

Another way to support these authors is to volunteer to proofread their works before they are published. The stories are timely, inspirational and uplifting, but many of the messages get lost in all the grammatical, punctuation, and spelling mistakes throughout the books. I loved the Good Woman series, but they were all full of basic writing errors that were embarrassing. I would gladly volunteer my time to proofread these books before they are published. I am not trying to crash anyone’s dreams or aspiration to be an author, but, if it’s going to be done, it should be done correctly. Some people won’t tell you these things because they don’t know better. Others won’t tell you, because they want you to fail and want to see us as a people, do bad work.
