Your 2025 reading goal : check in

Friend, at the beginning of 2025, we said this would be the year we read XX(insert your magic number here) books. We decorated our journals and e-reader covers and brought new pens to annotate our nonfiction. The real question is: How are you doing with your reading goal? Friend, if you are crushing it or being crushed by it, I am here to help. If you are new here, hello, my name is She Nell. I am an author, blogger, independent publisher, and Literacy teacher. Today, I want to tell you three ways to stay motivated and crush your reading goal.

Stay motivated and crush  your reading goal by remembering your why

There is great power in the WHY. When you set up your journal or punched those numbers into Goodreads, you had a purpose for your magic book number. You decided that reading your specific number of books would be a priority this year. Think back to that day in December when you declared your reading number. Asking yourself the following questions may help you remember your why:

What do you hope to gain from reading this year?

Have you set a time or amount of time you want to read each day?

What will you do to celebrate completing your reading goal?

Knowing your why is one of three steps to motivate you to crush your reading goal this year. Understanding the purpose of your reading will help you turn the pages or swipe left, regardless of whether it is to gain knowledge about a subject or to relax.

Stay motivated and crush  your reading goal by finding accountability friends

Have you told anyone about your reading goal? Your accountability can be a book club or a book buddy. Having someone to share the reading experience with is a great motivator. Online Facebook groups and book clubs are great starting points. You can also sign up and announce your reading goal on Goodreads. You can also share your reading goals in the comments of this blog. The goal of this blog is to motivate you, introduce you to new authors, and talk about books. I will gladly help you meet your reading goal by sharing bookish content each week.

Stay motivated and crush  your reading goal by not being afraid to start again

On December 31st, you may have decided that this was going to be the year that you read all the books. Unfortunately, on February 1st, life decided that you needed some curve balls, some pitfalls, and a mountain of challenges. You can still crush your reading goal! Do not be afraid to start again; if you need to modify your goal, that is okay. If you decide to read one book a week, but you have only read one book in two months, consider changing your goal or your method of reading. Personally, I consume ebooks faster than paperbacks. I attribute the faster rate of completion to not having to read with my glasses in bed and the portability of ebooks. Audiobooks can be played while you are working out or doing household chores. These methods will help you crush your reading goal.

I hope that you have found motivation and are ready to crush your reading goal.
