Book Review: The Woman God Created You to Be: Finding Success Through Faith—Spiritually, Personally, and Professionally

If you want to make 2024 the year you become the woman that God has purposed you to be I urge you to put Kimbrela Lawson Roby’s book on your list for reading. She has crafted a guide that will help you navigate each area in your life. Unlike some nonfiction books, she is not preachy or sterile in her approach. The book reads like you are sitting down with a girlfriend and she is sharing with you what she has learned. As it is written in Titus 2:4-8 These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God. In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely. And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us. Reading  The Woman God Created You to Be: Finding Success Through Faith—Spiritually, Personally, and Professionally feels like a chat with your big sister or favorite cousin. Below you will find my in-depth thoughts and book synopsis.

My thoughts

In 2023 I decided that I needed to read more nonfiction and I am glad that I placed this book on my list. I picked up my signed copy at the 2023 Christian Book Lover’s Retreat. I had the pleasure of hearing Kimbrela speak and read a section of the book The Woman God Created You to Be: Finding Success Through Faith—Spiritually, Personally, and Professionally. Within the pages of the book, Kimbrela speaks to the reader with truth and kindness. The voice in the book made me feel like I was listening to sound counsel. I eagerly turned pages hoping to glean more.

Kimberla shares her personal journey and practical steps to become the woman you were created to be in all aspects of life. It is like reading a Masterclass on success. Although she is an accomplished author and does mention her writing journey the book is not limited to those that want to write. This book is appropriate for all women from the stay-at-home mom to those that work a 9 to 5. She speaks about navigating her corporate job, going back to school as well as making the decision to write full-time. Kimberla speaks about single life as well as marriage and its importance.

If you have not guessed this book is a 5 out of 5 in my opinion. If you are serious about wanting to truly be your best self for 2024 The Woman God Created You to Be: Finding Success Through Faith—Spiritually, Personally, and Professionally is a great read for the journey. Women study groups will also find this book helpful.

Synopsis

ARE YOU THE REAL WOMAN GOD CREATED YOU TO BE? HAVE YOU WANTED TO BECOME HER–SPIRITUALLY, PERSONALLY, and PROFESSIONALLY? Kimberla Lawson Roby admits that for years, she wasn’t being the real woman God created her to be. Yes, she has always loved God and tried her best to honor Him, but what she eventually discovered was that building and maintaining her own personal relationship with God–and making Him her top priority–was the key to finding joy in all areas of her life. Now, in The Woman God Created You to Be, Kimberla has bravely–and transparently–written about her flaws, fears, and failures, as well as her faith, courage, and successes. From experiencing divorce to marrying her soulmate of twenty-nine years…from hopelessly searching for the perfect job to becoming a New York Times bestselling author…from suffering in silence with anxiety to concentrating on self-care…from struggling with the loss of her mom to finding strength, comfort, peace. and understanding–Kimberla takes you on a journey that will help you do the following: ● Become the Best Spiritual You (Seven Days Per Week)● Become the Best Personal You (Mentally, Emotionally, and Physically)● Become the Best Professional You (Without Jeopardizing Your Faith)Kimberla reminds us that when we trust and depend on God–heart, mind, and soul–He will empower us to do more than we ever thought imaginable.
