We all have issues
Everybody has something that they are battling and most people are battling alone. Oliva Shaw Reel touches on abuse infidelity and suicide. The brokenness of the main character Jamaika is raw. Jamaika’s struggles resonate with the readers’ souls because they are real and relatable.
What is broken must get fixed
There is a known pattern in Christian romances. I call it the order of restoration. In most stories the main character is getting done wrong, she prays and God gives her a man at the end. While this is entertaining the order of true restoration is slightly different. In Soul Cry Oliva Shaw Reel exposes the myths and gives readers truth. The main character Jamika is broken and she does find a man however more importantly she finds herself in God. The healing that takes place in this book brought tears to my eyes. From the prologue to the epilogue Soul Cry is a must-read.
