How to Crush Your 2025 Reading Goal

This year you will read more! Right? Welcome to 2025 in this article we are going to talk about reading goals or if you prefer reading intentions. If you are new here, my name is She Nell. I am an author, blogger, independent publisher, and Literacy teacher. Part of my of as a Literacy teacher is motivating people to read to become better readers. If you have been here before you know I love all things reading and books so I have a few ideas for you to consider when making your 2025 reading goals. Trust me this year will be the year you crush your reading goal. Here are three ways to make sure you master your 2025 reading goal.

Just read more

Seriously, just read more. Instead of deciding that this will be the year you read 100 books make it the year you read one more. Create a list of the books you read in 2024 and at one to that number. If you only read six books in 2024 shoot for seven in 2025. If you read 50 shoot for 51 or 55. The goal is not to stress yourself out or think that because it is a new year you are going to magically be your best reading self overnight. Instead of saying I am going to read 100 books this year simply say I am going to read more than I did last year. Whatever your 2024 reading number was should be celebrated and boost your confidence in your 2025 number. Surely if you read six books in 2024 you will crush seven in 2025 because six was done. Now just add one.

Create a monthly or quarterly goal

Sometimes it is not that the end goal is unattainable it is the fact that the end goal is large. That brings us to the age-old question how do you eat an elephant?  The answer is what I need you to apply to your reading goal – one bite (book) at a time. Instead of looking at 100 books to read in 2025 let’s think of it as 25 books to read in quarter one. 25 books in quarter one is about 8 and some books a month which is two books roughly a week. If you mix audio with that number it is accomplishable. The point is to focus on the smaller goal and let the big goal flow naturally.

Skip the book and try pages or minutes instead

What if we ditched the book number altogether and just focused on reading more? Instead of reading a certain number of books your reading goal could be to read a certain number of minutes or a certain number of hours per week. This goal could also be turned in a certain number of pages a day. I attempted the 75 hard challenge in 2024 which required 10 pages of reading a day. I enjoyed that part of the challenge and think that setting a page count goal is a great way to accomplish your reading goal for 2025.

What is your 2025 reading goal going to be? Are you going with a number of books, number of pages, or number of minutes/hours reading? I would love to hear about it in the comments. Remember to like, share, and or pin the article. Thank you!

Sometimes, we want to read a good story but have only a short amount of free time. That is one of the reasons I wrote the Living a Blessed Lie series. This 90-minute read is perfect for your lunch break or your kids’ football practice.
