2020 may have been a year of difficulty, but it also was a breakout year for many authors. On December 25, 2020, Dyeronda Gay released her debut book Invisible in Plain Sight. We had a chance to speak to Dyeronda about the new book and her upcoming endeavors.
Tell me about your latest book. – Invisible in Plain Sight is a collection of short stories that cover the challenges women often face when dealing with hardships and silent illnesses such as depression, addiction, and sexual traumas. It also explores how God’s love and grace help them to overcome the most challenging obstacles.
Why did you choose to become a Christian Fiction Author? – To help women and young girls grow and understand that no matter what life has thrown at you large or small, that God’s Love for us never changes. Through the art of storytelling, we can achieve this by pointing out areas in which God‘s grace and mercy surround us daily and how his word can heal and strengthen us.
What inspired you to write it? All of my hardships and challenges I’ve faced or have witnessed by those closest to me.
What is your writing process? – I like to sit on my porch with my laptop or iPad first thing the morning and just start writing. I just like the stillness in the air it helps me listen to the stories in my head it’s pretty cool!
What is the best part of being an author? Being able to change the narrative
Who are some of your favorite authors? Sheila Walsh, Priscilla Schreier at the moment.
What book(s) are you most excited to read next? When women pray by TD Jakes
Tell me something about you as a person. – I am a devout homebody. I love cooking and watching makeup tutorials! I also love to dance when no one is watching lol!
What is next? – Book 2, start to blog, and begin my coaching business
