Who is Vanessa Wells?

It might be me, but the characters I write about become my friends. Most of them- not Shelby (Walking Crooked with Christ) if you know then you know. Hello Friend, my name is She Nell and I write, blog, publish, and teach people about books. I would like to share with you my latest imaginary friend that came to life on the pages of Standing on The Enemy- Vanessa Wells.

How was Vanessa created?

Vanessa’s name came from two women who have been very inspirational in my author journey, and a woman of God I have admired over the years. Vanessa Miller and Vanessa Riley are both women who are phenomenal authors, and Paulette Upshaw-Wells is a pillar in my local gospel community. Vanessa Wells, the main character in Standing on the Enemy, is an artist at her core but unfortunately, she has been deterred from her passions. So she does what we all do the next best thing. Although she is well-educated and in her late 30’s early 40’s she still trying to live up to the expectations of others.

Why is Vanessa Wells’ story important?

Vanessa is living a life that is hindered by the beliefs of others. She has internalized those beliefs and become paralyzed. Her story is sadly very common and one that I must admit I have lived. It is important to read her story and gain strength to see yourself and heal.

What are some of Vanessa’s best moments?

I enjoyed Vanessa’s interactions with Toby ( her best friend from college) and Hal ( her co-worker). She has some positive relationships that help her navigate life, heal, and eventually fall in love.

What are readers saying about Vanessa Wells?

Never let someone else dictate your future. Parents support your children and their dreams. We are our own worst enemy. This is the message I took away from this book. I highly recommend this book. I hope there is a sequel or a spinoff for Walt Jr and Gina -A. Jones

Just like with Vanessa, the main character, so many times the enemy is within us. Telling us what we can’t do or be but when we tune out, step on that voice, and remember what God says, we win. Author She Nell’s latest book is true to her high caliber quality of story writing her readers have come to expect and enjoy. You will laugh, cry, and cheer for Vanessa and everyone should have a straight-up-chaser best friend like Latasha Toby❤️. –Ms. Blessed Cecil

Standing on the Enemy

In the quiet corners of Vanessa Wells’ heart, dreams once thrived, fueled by the artistic legacy her mother bestowed upon her. But when tragedy claims her mother’s life, the ember of Vanessa’s passion is extinguished. Left without the support she craves, she succumbs to her father’s demands, shelving her aspirations for a career she despises.

As Vanessa navigates the mundane, a flicker of hope emerges when news of a life-altering contest reaches her ears. Energized by the possibility of resurrecting her dreams, she takes a leap, only to find herself ensnared in the harsh grip of a lie. Financial woes and skeptical voices echo louder than ever, pushing Vanessa to the brink of despair.

In the crucible of adversity, Vanessa confronts the painful echoes of ‘I told you so’ and grapples with a soul-crushing sense of loss. Yet, in the depths of her darkest moments, she discovers a reservoir of resilience. With courage as her compass and love by her side, Vanessa learns to mend her shattered dreams and dares to dream again.

Join Vanessa Wells on an inspiring journey of self-discovery, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of one’s true calling. In ‘Standing on the Enemy,’ witness the transformative power of hope as Vanessa rekindles the flames of her artistic spirit and, against all odds, emerges triumphant in her pursuit of a life filled with passion and purpose.”
