Let’s Face it our TBR (to be read ) piles are high. We have hundreds of books to read and still at least fifty or more to add this year. One way to check off books is with audiobooks. As an independent author, the production of an audiobook can be costly. But fear not Amazon has a solution!
Amazon’s Virtual Voices
Amazon has selected a few authors to test out their Virtual Voices option. Virtual Voices allows authors to produce an audiobook based on their ebook. Authors can select the reading voice, change reading speed, and add clarity for punctuation. The royalty authors receive is based on the price set by the author and Amazon gives us what I believe to be a fair price range. Amazon alerts readers that they are listening to an audiobook read by a Virtual Voice.

After setting up my books I asked two readers that are fans of audiobooks what they thought about Virtual Voices. Both had positive things to say including the enjoyment of the voice reading. Although it differed from a human reading there were no complaints about the Virtual Voice. The Virtual Voice did not take away from the story and the reader was pleased.
