Don’t you just love- love? Romance novels have traditionally been number one on the list of most-read genres. Readers simply love love stories. Even though we know the couple will end up together readers will turn every page (or swipe left) until they reach the happily ever after. Every reader has a favorite or least favorite troupe in Romance. Simply put the troupe is the circumstances surrounding the couple. I have gathered a list of common troupes found in our favorite romance novels.
Friends to lovers
This happens to be one of my personal favorites. (Possible because I am married to my best friend) In this troupe, two friends realize that they have romantic feelings for each other. It can be very entertaining to watch them fumble over words and gestures as they discover their true feelings. As a reader, you may swoon as the couple finally share their first kiss and wish you were in the church as they tie the knot.
One of my newest Friends to Lovers stories is Standing on the Enemy although it is not purely a romance. Vanessa and Hal have a close friendship that in time turns into more.
Second chance
Second-chance romances can go several ways. In some stories, the couple consists of older people who have each been divorced or widowed. These characters are usually not looking for love or convinced that their time has passed. Throughout the story, they find themselves together and love has struck again.
In second chance stories someone who has lost love and is given a “second chance” at the same or a different relationship. Kelis in Her Pleasure His Principles finds true love after a devastating break-up and some soul searching, although it is not with who readers expect it to be. Her Pleasure His Principles is now available on audio as well as ebook and paperback.
Enemies to lovers
Favored by many enemies to lovers put two people who can’t stand each other in a situation where they fall in love. Readers find it entertaining to see the couple’s feelings shift from hatred to happiness. Enemy to Friend romances make me wonder if hate is the opposite of love or is another form of passion. As an author it is my least favorite to work with however I did enjoy reading The One That Got Away by Quint Ellis showed how two people who didn’t care for each other could easily fall madly in love.
In this season of romance, I challenge you to read at least one romance novel this February. In my novel Limitless Love, I explore the greatest love story ever told with a modern twist.

Are you in the mood for a quick read?
Sometimes we want to read a good story but we only have a short amount of free time. That is one of the reasons I wrote the Living a Blessed Lie series. This 90-minute read is a perfect read for your lunch break or kids’ football practice.
They say they are Living their Blessed Life but someone is LIVING A BLESSED LIE.
